Alt Summit Recap

I'm still decompressing from five days in Salt Lake City. There was so much information presented. I'm feeling a bit overwhelmed with my to do list! Overall Alt Summit was a great experience - facilities & set up were impeccable, lots of opportunities to connect with other bloggers & brands, and a wealth of information shared. BUT I will echo other Alt Summit recaps and say I was disappointed with a few of the panels. They tried to cover too many topics in a hour's time so you got an overview rather than a detailed how-to. The classes I gained the most from concentrated on one subject i.e. media kits. Here are a couple of photos from the conference!

Thursday night was a Clue movie themed party. I went as Mr. Green in my trusty emerald Milly dress. Thanks Kendra Scott for the borrowed baubles

Citizens of Humanity was one of the conference sponsors. You can find this pic on their Alt Summit recap here.  Although you can't see them, I'm wearing a pair myself!

The Land of Nod hosted a #SwanSoiree DIY tea party where I made this snazzy heart headband.

As far as Alt fashion goes, I could have definitely taken my day outfits up a notch (or two). I felt rather plain jane compared to all the neon, floral pants, mixed patterns, and sequins!

Lilly Love

Yesterday I came home to a little piece of Spring in my mailbox - the Lilly Pulitzer Spring 2013 Catalog! I've always been drawn to the bright colors and fun prints of Lilly Pulitzer but I never actually owned any until we got engaged. Three of my shower dresses were Lilly Pulitzer! Before then, I thought of Lilly Pulitzer as "mom" dresses. Over the past couple years, Lilly has really changed it's marketing to target a younger, more hip generation. Hemlines are shorter and patterns more sophisticated. I was dreaming of a beach vacation after perusing their catalog. Here are my favorites!

Briella Dress $178

Lia Jacket $278

Thyme Skirt $128

Larissa Sweater $138

Louella Bandeau $78 // Sandi Spring Bottom $68

And my absolute favorite!

Nelle Jacket $258 // Sloane Short $118

Front Row

Last week Houston Tidbits introduced Front Row, an exclusive membership for insider access to Houston's hottest events. A must-have for the gal about town! No more waiting in line for an hour to grab that swag bag, now it's guaranteed. The $75 membership fee practically pays for itself with all the perks it includes. A few of my favorites?

Plus, a members only cocktail party with celebrity shoe designer Charlotte Olympia! This is a no-brainer! Only 3 more days to become a member. Get yours before they're gone!

S.W.A.K.

Sealed With A Kiss! Does it take you back to middle school? One of my besties was notorious for signing her notes with this acronym. With Valentine's Day on the horizon, designers are embracing this sentiment. Go bold with a statement sweater or opt for a subtle accessory. I particularly love this old school scrunchie. Yep, I said scrunchie! With the debut of The Carrie Diariesget ready for a resurgence of our favorite 80's hair accessory.

Alt Summit

I'm en route (gotta love in-flight wi-fi!) to Salt Lake City for Alt Summit. Alt Summit is a 3 day lifestyle blogger conference focusing on how to build, brand, and beautify your site. I am beyond excited to attend! I hope to come back inspired and with an increased knowledge of all things blogging.

Alt Summit is also a great opportunity to connect with other bloggers. You never know who you are going to meet! Molly and Sally of A Piece of Toast are on my flight. We first met last summer at the Sheridan French fan photoshoot. I'm excited to reconnect and room with fellow Pi Phi Jenn of ScoutShe's also the Artistic Director behind Camille Styles who is speaking at the conference along with Design Darling. Jessica Alba is making an appearance representing The Honest Company!

The Tan Can

Hello Austin! Meet your new best friend...

Over Christmas break, Trish Huddleston, owner of The Tan Can, treated me to an all natural spray tan. And honestly, it's the best spray tan I've ever had! Trish developed the tanning solution herself and mixes the color to suit each client's skin tone. The best part? No tell-tale tanning smell!

Trish works out of her home which is just as vibrant as her personality. I love all her colorful vignettes. How cool is her front door? The tanning space is just as darling. A dresser is stocked with swim suits to borrow or go au natural. After your spray tan, Trish dusts you with a powder she creates herself. It not only dries you but seals the tan, helping it last up to two weeks!

Trish sent me home with several of her products to try. I used the Body Butter as a daily moisturizer. After five days, I started using Bikini Attitude to help extend the life of my tan. I loved the Bikini Attitude aerosol face spray. Spray it on before bed and wake up to a natural looking glow!

I loved my first tan so much, Trish's was our first stop in Austin last weekend. I had the perfect amount of color for all our wedding festivities. Book your tan today!

I love ranch weekends! Nothing beats a country getaway with good friends and great food. Scott's boss hosted us for three days of hunting, skeet shooting, campfires, and dominoes.  Obviously, I had to wear my beaded deer tee! A lot of my ranch wear was first featured here.

Card Trick

I never know what to do with all my Christmas Cards. I hate to just throw them away. For a couple years, I cut out the photos and put them in a red and green photo album. This wasn't ideal since I had to dismember the pretty cards first. Last year, my sister shared this trick: punch a hole in the corner of the card and put them all on a binder ring. Problem solved! Each year start a new ring. I put mine out on the coffee table and everyone loves flipping thru them. It's fun to see how families grow over the years.

You can find binder rings at your local Michael's or craft store. Do one ring like above or two to three smaller rings down the side.

I also use a ring for birth announcements. I hang the ring on the pin board above my desk. They're great for party invitations too!

Feeling Blue

Blue is my color, any shade, any day. It brings out my eyes. I counted six blue button downs in my closet - chambray, denim, two plaid, polka dot and striped! Make that seven - just ordered this one for work. I paired an aqua plaid button down with a navy vest and flat boots to run errands.

Top: J.Crew Factory // Vest: J.Crew // Jeggings: Citizen of Humanity // Boots: Madewell // Earrings: Kendra Scott (scored at the Houston Tidbits holiday party!) // Bracelet: Stella & Dot // Necklace: Jane Hollinger (silver version here)

What's your color?
